Next week, I’m embarking on an adventure that promises to be both invigorating and soul-enriching: the Oregon’s Crater Lake Cascades Women’s Walking & Hiking Tour with one of my favorite active travel partners: Backroads. As I prepare for this trip, I can’t help but share my excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead. Here’s a glimpse into what makes this journey so special and why it’s the perfect getaway for anyone who loves to get out into nature…especially the mountainous beauty we have in this part of the country!

Day 1: Arrival and Welcome
The journey begins in my birthplace – Bend, Oregon, where we’ll gather and meet our fellow adventurers. This first day is all about settling in, getting acquainted, and preparing for the days of exploration ahead. Bend is a charming city with a vibrant arts scene and plenty of outdoor activities, making it the ideal starting point for our trip.

Day 2: Smith Rock State Park
Our first full day of hiking takes us to Smith Rock State Park, renowned for its towering rock formations and scenic views. Here, we’ll traverse the Crooked River, marvel at the volcanic cliffs, and perhaps catch sight of rock climbers tackling the park’s famous routes. The day will end with a delicious meal, where we can share our first impressions and bond over our experiences.

Day 3: Newberry National Volcanic Monument
Next, we head to Newberry National Volcanic Monument, a vast area filled with geological wonders. We’ll hike through ancient lava flows, visit Paulina Falls, and soak in the mesmerizing views from Paulina Peak. This day is a true testament to the power of nature and the beauty that volcanic activity can create.

Day 4: Crater Lake National Park
The highlight of the trip is undoubtedly going to be Crater Lake National Park. Formed by a volcanic eruption over 7,700 years ago, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States and one of the most pristine. The sapphire-blue waters surrounded by sheer cliffs offer a sight unlike any other. We’ll explore the rim, take in panoramic views, and learn about the park’s unique history and ecology.

Day 5: Cascade Mountains Hike
Our journey continues through the majestic Cascade Mountains. This day is dedicated to hiking through lush forests, alpine meadows, and alongside clear streams. The diverse terrain and the serene environment provide a perfect setting for reflection and connection with nature. Each step brings us closer to understanding the intricate balance of this ecosystem.

Day 6: Deschutes River and Farewell
On our final day, we’ll enjoy a more leisurely walk along the Deschutes River, famous for its beautiful scenery and rich wildlife. It’s a perfect way to wind down and savor the last moments of our adventure. We’ll share a farewell meal, celebrate our achievements, and exchange contact information to keep in touch with new friends made along the way.

Preparing for the Trip
Packing for this trip requires a bit of planning. Sturdy hiking boots, layered clothing, a good backpack, and plenty of sunscreen are essentials. It’s also important to bring a camera or a journal to capture the stunning landscapes and moments of personal growth. Hydration is key, so a reusable water bottle is a must.

Why This Trip is Special
What makes this tour truly unique is the focus on women’s adventure. It’s an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, share stories, and create lasting memories. The guided hikes ensure we don’t miss any highlights, and the all-inclusive nature of the tour means we can focus entirely on the experience without worrying about logistics.

Looking Forward
As I count down the days to departure, I’m filled with a sense of excitement and curiosity. This tour promises not just physical challenges and stunning vistas, but also a chance to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the unexpected. Oregon’s Crater Lake Cascades awaits, and I’m ready to discover its wonders.

Stay tuned for updates and reflections from the trail. Here’s to new adventures, new friendships, and the breathtaking beauty of nature!

Whether you’re an experienced hiker or just looking for a unique getaway, this experience offers something for everyone. I hope this glimpse into my upcoming trip inspires you to lace up your hiking boots and explore the natural beauty that awaits. Happy trails!

We’re ready whenever you are!
